Día de los Muertos 2024

Join SPARC on Sunday November 3rd for our annual Día de los Muertos celebration and ritual! SPARC partners with UCLA Professor Martha Ramirez-Oropeza every year to honor the memories of those who have passed on. Guests are invited to contribute to our community altar that represents Día de los Muertos traditions from regions across Mexico and Central America by bringing copies of photographs of loved ones that hold meaning for them to add to our community altar. Professor Ramirez-Oropeza will lead an invocation ritual in Nahuatl, Spanish and English that calls the spirits to join the celebration.

Support local vendors and stay warm with tamales, hot chocolate and pan de muerto just outside of SPARC. The Durón Gallery will also be available for visitation, featuring our current exhibition Exploring Metaphors: The Creative Process of the Great Wall of Los Angeles.
